« Who has never dreamt of an adventure in the stars while staying comfortably on their couch? NASA seems to have understood this, » we say, with a twinkle in our eyes. The American space agency is getting ready to launch its very own streaming platform: NASA+. Set to launch this summer, NASA+ not only offers live broadcasts but also proposes a host of original series, all without asking for a penny in subscription fees and without bombarding you with ads. So, you know where to go if a bit of spatial binge-watching tempts you.
Following the example of other streaming stalwarts, NASA+ will be accessible from both iOS and Android apps on mobile devices. So yes, you can quench your thirst for space content while commuting, during lunch breaks, or even in bed before slipping into dreamland. In addition to this, you can access the streaming service through browsers on both desktop and mobile, and there’s also on-demand access through devices like Roku, Apple TV, and Fire TV.
« NASA+ brings the cosmos closer as we transform our digital presence to better share space exploration stories, »
Astronauts may be tight-lipped, but Marc Etkind from NASA’s Office of Communications is clearly not. He reaffirms the agency’s aim with NASA+: « We’re putting space on demand and at your fingertips with NASA’s new streaming platform. Transforming our digital presence will help us better tell the stories of how NASA explores the unknown in air and space, inspires through discovery, and innovates for the benefit of humanity. »
Saturn, Mars, or your grandma’s living room – NASA isn’t the only one undergoing a transformation. The American space agency is also working to overhaul its digital presence as a whole, with a new web and app experience in development. Aimed at consolidating its different missions, research projects, updates on Artemis program and such in one place, this will also feature integrated navigation and search functions for a smooth and streamlined informational – and, dare I say, astronomical – experience.
Intrigued? Well, don’t keep your excitement grounded! The beta version of this spatial digital upgrade is already up and running for you to peruse. Though still in its early stages, NASA plans to enhance it further by adding more libraries and connecting more of its websites to the platform even after the official launch.
It looks like NASA is prepping us for a journey that promises interesting stops at ‘Interstellar Entertainment’ and ‘Digital Upgrade Islands.’ Stay tuned for this launch; we’re sure the wait will be worth it.
And to end on a comical note, it seems like NASA is truly promising a ‘universal’ experience. Now, who said space travel was out of reach?
